I. Player "A" is rated 160 points or more above Player "B":

When Player "A" wins:

Player "A" gains: 0 points
Player "B" loses: 0 points

When Player "B" wins:

Player "A" loses: 16 points
Player "B" wins: 16 points

Draw:

Player "A" loses: 8 points
Player "B" gains: 8 points


II. Player "A" and "B" are rated the same:

When Player "A" wins:

Player "A" gains: 8 points
Player "B" loses: 8 points

When Player "B" wins:

Player "B" gains: 8 points
Player "A" loses: 8 points

Draw:

No change for either player



III. One Player is rated less than 160 points higher than the other:

[Player "A" is rated higher than Player "B"]

When Player "A" wins:

a. Player "A" gains
b. Player "B" loses

Look for the gain/loss along the " a,b " diagonal of the chart above.

When Player "B" wins:

c. Player "A" loses
d. Player "B" gains

Look for the gain/loss along the " c,d " diagonal of the chart above.

Draw:

e. Player "A" loses
f. Player "B" gains

Look for the gain/loss along the " e,f " diagonal of the chart above.


HOW TO READ THE CHART ABOVE

The chart relates only to section
III. of the Rating System

[ III. One Player is rated less than 160 points higher than the other ]
The difference between rating points is looked up
in the vertical column on the left. The rating points gained (lost) can be found in the
horizontal row of numbers [0 - 16]. They are read along the " a,b " or " c,d " or " e,f "
diagonals [see III. One Player is rated
less than 160 points higher than the other]

RATING CONVERSION

Conventional Chess Rating points can be converted to Z-Chess Rating by the following formula:

Multiply Conventional Chess Rating by 16 and then divide that figure by 30

Titles [Grandmaster, Master, etc.] can not be converted.
Z-Chess Titles are achieved only after 100 rated tournament games.



Z-CHESS TITLES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1,500+..........: Grandmaster
1,400 - 1,500 : Master
1,300 - 1,400 : Expert
1,200 - 1,300 : Cat. A
1,100 - 1,200 : Cat. B
1,000 - 1,100 : Cat. C
...900 - 1,000 : Cat. D
...800 - . 900 : Cat. E
...700 - . 800 : Cat. F
...600 - . 700 : Cat. G
...500 - . 600 : Cat. H
...400 - . 500 : Cat. I
...300 - . 400 : Cat. J
...200 - . 300 : Cat. K
...100 - . 200 : Cat. L
.......0 - . 100 : Cat. M


Unrated players start with a provisional
Rating of 800. Their actual Rating is
established after 4 rated tournament
games.
